Election Burnout

I am sick of this election. There have been interesting points, and it even still boasts the kind of controversy associated with the end of the Clinton administration. It's just gone on too long, or rather it just started too early.

Maybe we're just so eager to push the Bush debacle out of our lives that we're all too eager to turn our attention to another, more interesting show.

Usually in these elections we're used to voting for the old white guy, or the old white guy. This time we've got some noticable physical differences between the two candidates. But are either of the two, old and frail or young and virile ready for the challenges?

With the state we're in now, what with the economy in the toliet and recession whispering in America's ears, I'm not sure either candidate is really up to the task of cleaning up all the mess.

On the right, we've got a slightly liberal Republican with his wacky conservative running-mate.

Lately, the biggest newsmakers are Sarah Palin and family. Just when things were calming down in this election, there she was, the shining beacon of plain-spoken hope for the Republican party.

I'm not ashamed to admit it, but last week I completely blanked on Obama's VP pick. Perhaps Senator Biden should rack up some controversy or get some cute hockey mom stories of his own.

America is not as disenchanted with this election as I am. The closer we get to it the less I care. But I am proud of my fellow college students for keeping the election a hot topic. Maybe it was the gender/race issue that started the fire, the Palin scandals to stoke it, but now college students are tuned into the election for the right reasons.
