Student commencement speakers needed

Applications are now being accepted for student speakers who will speak at the Yuba College commencement ceremony. The deadline to sign up is Monday, April 28. Candidates will be selected based on the following criteria:


· Student must be a graduating sophomore.
· Student must have at least a 2.0 G.P.A.
· Speech content must be about student's experiences at Yuba College that could be applicable to the entire graduating class.
· Speech may be delivered in an enthusiastic manner, sincere manner or be clearly spoken with confidence.
· Time limit of speech is three to five minutes.

Applicants must submit a completed sign-up form that may be obtained from the Campus Life Office, located just inside the entrance of the student dorm building, Osuna Hall. Applicants will individually present their speeches in an audition before a Selection Committee comprised of the Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Student Services, the President of the Associated Students of Yuba College, one additional ASYC member and two faculty/staff members selected by the ASYC President. Auditions will be held Thursday, May 1, during the noon hour.


Two students will be selected to speak at the commencement exercises, one for the Commencement and Awards Breakfast and one for the Commencement Exercise. Students selected to speak will receive an Honorarium sponsored by the ASYC.
